Bass - The Bottom End

Bass is a very unique and important instrument supporting the sounds of large and small ensembles for hundreds of years.  From the Contrabass or Double-bass found in orchestral music to the modern electric bass the instrument holds its place in musical history as an integral piece in any music ensemble.  Giving sonic bottom and rhythmic momentum to music, the bass continues to be a foundation to the sound of music groups in today's music.  Our bass students come to know the instrument as it is taught today in our culture yet rooted within a traditional approach to music education.  Our modern approach and teaching methods for bass instruction on both electric and the upright bass foster a student’s musical creativity promoting the development of proper mental and physical habits to ensure lasting personal growth and love of music!

We welcome beginners and advanced bass students. Our current students travel from all over Sacramento county and outer regions to attend our bass lessons. Through consistency of regular coaching, our teachers pay specific attention to a student’s development based on the student’s natural talents and abilities.  Our students learn to read and improvise and also receive training in the development of proper technique providing any student optimum musical growth, advancement and lasting skills.

Although we offer instruction for beginning bass students, bass players very often turned to bass after developing a foundation for music through guitar or the piano. The study of the bass is great way for older students to continue creatively exploring music.  We recommend our youngest students interested in electric bass are at least 10 years old. Adult students find success and peace in music lessons allowing time to take a break from the stress of the fast paced world we live in!

Students who find their voice in the electric or upright bass and become serious about their advancement are welcome to an opportunity for extensive musical education. The music programs at Earthtone School of Music are designed to ensure that music students who wish to go on to programs in higher education have a competitive edge on their peers, giving our students confidence and pride in their musical skills. From our jazz ensembles and workshops to awards incentives and recitals, we provide students with the information to develop a solid foundation for fundamental musical technique and theory applications. Our programs will have a lasting impact on all our students and we GUARANTEE a positive experience the student will always remember and grow from musically.

Artist Development/Earthtone Productions

Our program is unique!  We focus attention to the development of the artistry of each student.   Providing performance opportunities in live and studio settings, our students have a “real world” experience as music students.  Our annual student recitals provide the experience of preparing repertoire for solo and ensemble performances.  Earthtone Productions provides the assistance in producing demo recordings for students to be used as a means to further showcase a student’s talents and musical achievements. We offer the tools of our STATE OF THE ART recording studio specifically to facilitate the advanced student’s experience in the music recording environment.  The recording experience proves to be very unique and different than the live performance experience because of the nature of the music recording process.  Demonstration recordings are produced with assistance by Earthtone School of Music’s director and can be used to further a student’s educational and career opportunities.
